Your backups stay yours.
DeckShot keeps your Elgato backups as plain files on your PC. There's no cloud and no account, so most of what a privacy policy usually worries about doesn't apply here. This is exactly what the app and this site touch.
What DeckShot stores
Two things, both on your PC. Your backups — dated copies of each Elgato app's configuration — live in the folder you choose, as ordinary files. A small settings file remembers your preferences and, once you buy a licence, your signed licence token.
Your Elgato configuration files themselves never leave your PC.
What stays on your PC
All of it. Backups are plain files on a disk you pick — a local drive, an external drive, or a network share — and they're readable without DeckShot installed. There's no account to sign into, and nothing about your setup is uploaded anywhere.
What touches the network
Licensing, and an update check you ask for. Activating a licence key checks it once and stores a signed token on your PC. Refreshing that token re-checks the key from time to time so it stays valid. A completed restore records a single best-effort usage note — the word “restore” and a count. And the update check asks whether a newer build exists, sending the platform you are on and the version you are running and nothing else; it runs when DeckShot starts and when you press “Check for updates” in Settings, never on a repeating timer.
None of them carry anything about your configuration.
On the free tier the licensing requests never fire — restoring your free app resolves entirely offline, with no key and no connection. The update check is the one thing that can reach out — on launch, and when you press it.
The download link on this site
If you enter your email on the homepage to send the download link to your PC, it's used once to send that link and isn't added to any mailing list. A Cloudflare Turnstile check sits in front of the form to stop abuse, and may set a short-lived token for that purpose.
Payment
The licence is sold through a payment processor (Stripe, via the keygate licensing service). DeckShot never sees or stores your card details — the processor handles payment and tells the licensing service only that a purchase succeeded, so a key can be issued to your email.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the change is noted here with a new date. Questions about your data go to hello@deckshot.app.
Stop rebuilding what you already built.
Set it up on a good day. After the first run it is a filing cabinet nobody thinks about, until the day it is the only thing that matters.
